MSSL Family Paw Sox Outing - June 19th
For those who attended last year, we had such a great time with our kids and spouses at the MSSL Paw Sox outing that we'd like to do it again.
We've purchased a block of 30 tickets at a cost of $9.00/pp for the game on Thursday June 19th @ 7:05P against the Columbus Clippers, the AAA team feeding the Washington Nationals.
The first 4,000 ticket holders 14 years of age and younger will receive a free Commerative World Series Baseball.
For those who have not been to a Paw Sox game, it is <1 hour drive, free parking, inexpensive variety of food (unfortunately, trefe) and a great family atmosphere.
We selected this game and this date because all kids should be out of school by June 19th, yet camps will not have started until that weekend or the weekend after that.
If you'd like to attend this game with kids and/or spouse, please reply to this email ASAP and let us know how many tickets you'd like -- first come first serve.
Best regards,

Opening Day is finally here!
Who would have thought at our annual kickoff meeting in March that the weather and field conditions on April 6th would be appropriate for Opening Day (our earliest ever Opening Day).
The "final" 2008 regular season schedule has been posted for awhile now. It has been pointed out to us that there are a small number of field conflicts, but each appears to have been resolved or is able to be resolved between coaches.
Please remember that any changes to the schedule should be made at least one week before the originally scheduled game, and you MUST email Rich Pomper about the change and include the # that is assigned to the game on the website.
As you know the original schedule was designed around 29 teams, but a 30th team was added allowing every team to play 8 regular season games.
In addition, the playoff schedule has been expanded from 3 to 4 Sundays so that twice as many teams will be able to play in the Kiddush Cup Playoffs.
It has been suggested that for the teams who do not make it into the Kiddush Cup Playoffs that there be a secondary series.
It seems like a valid idea, but we’ll have to see if some of the people who proposed the idea are willing to volunteer to develop and coordinate the schedule, and if not, we’ll have to see how much time Rich and/or I have to address the issue as the regular season nears an end.
As you know, a couple of rules have either been added or modified.
A copy of the 2008 MSSL Rules is on the website under the section called “downloads”.
To that end, all of the MSSL rules have been assembled and designed with the goals of promoting safe and fair play, built upon a foundation of good sportsmanship. This means exercising respect, fairness, civility, honesty, responsibility, and most importantly a positive behavior. While team records and standings are kept throughout the season, the League mission statement is to “Promote friendship among Jewish men through sport.”.
Please be share this message with each of your players (often).
Thanks for all your patience -- have a enjoyable and safe season, we’ll see you on the ball field!
Best regards,
Bob Alperin, Co-Commissioner
